Giraffe-laffe-affe

Yesterday I was invited over to my friend Susannes place, for a barbeque, licorice ice cream, an insane amount of candy and a few hours with the pencil decorating her upcoming babys room.
What fun we had! :)

She's been (somewhat disturbingly) obsessed with giraffes since I don't know when, and so the baby better like'em too. ;) Cause after a few hours work a big giraffe was eating out of a tree in the room, and another one was peeking into the baby's crib. We also added a fully grown tree, green and fresh and with butterflies flying out of it.

Thanks for asking me to help, Susa! I had major fun and too many mint chocolates. :) Always, always fun catching up with you. :-*

Here's a few iphone snaps from the evening, but please see Susannes blog for the whole incident.

Copy a master

Back in 2004 when I was in school (waaaaha, I miss it :/) we had an assignment called "Copy a master". It was about learning how to paint, and by copying someone pro you'd learn from it. I sure did! I never did much painting and I regret that (ok, I'm only 26 - there is time), but doing this was fun! I love Munch and I would love to copy more of his work to learn from him, but I guess I should try to paint something from my own mind instead (like that's gonna happen anytime soon).

Well - here's my Madonna.
I painted her in acrylics on a thin canvas, compared to Munch using oils.

The scanning isn't all that good so the colors are a bit off.
And below you can see the original and mine together.

Watercolors

I've been trying out a few different techniques lately and I enjoy it very much.
Last night I spent the evening listening to Boards of Canada (best draw/paint music) and painting some watercolors.
For example - I made my very first painted portrait!
