The crisp sound of Autumn

This sunday was our perfect end on the very short autumn in Norway. Seriously - we have summer then pangautumnPANGWINTER. One week of autumn given to the norwegian people. I wish it would last longer. The crisp air, crunchy leaves, the smell of burnt grass, the colorful world with the colorful trees and the people all covered in lovely wool, blinded by the low sun - but enjoying it oh so much. This sunday was perfect, sun was shining and air was crispy as ever - ... aaaand there we were, with boxes and boxes with clothes and stuff lying around our appartment waiting to be cleaned up.
Yes, the weather won. :)

After this trip

After this trip, I've realized that my expectations before the trip were really low. What did I expect? Not much at all. I knew I'd have a great time, with lots of friends and seeing interesting things, but did I know what impact the trip would make on me? Absolutely not. After getting home and having a few days to "take it all in", I've realized what it has done with me, my attitude, my knowledge, my will, my future - my everything. I'm not saying Israel makes you happy, I'm just saying it put a lot of things in perspective. :) 


I am so grateful!

Two snaps from the trip: 
First one is from the Sea of Galilee, we went a trip in the early morning hours - beautiful colors outside and a hot, shining sun. 
Second shot is from Jerusalem, what you see is the Dome of the Rock, the wall around Old Jerusalem in front of it, and then the sun shining divinely above it. Not to honor the Dome, not at all - but to show where the power lies, I guess. :) What's in the light and what's in the shadow. May I always have my life in the light.

Every book has a story

During lunch break today we chatted about when we learned how to read and I started to think about myself at kiddo stage. I read a lot. Books gave me soo much joy. I could read for hours straight, days after days - it's a miracle I didn't turn into a geek (oh woops) with glasses (no offence) and zits (uhm), friendless and unfriendly, carrying my books with a tight grip and scowling over the pages for monsters and wizards and evil human beings. I turned out rather great. ;) Phew!


Anyway. I don't read as much anymore, but I love books just the same. And all book lovers know what I talk about. That's why I love this publication of the Jane Austen book from Anthropologie. And my little notebook (unused still) from Metropolitan Museum of Art shop in New York. And my moleskins from Tate Modern in London. I love notebooks. I buy a lot of them, but I don't use them cause I save them for something special. Typical me. What special is going to happen, Mette? Yeah, exactly. Start using them!

Three Things Pretty

Good morning! 

Today is a pretty day, the world all washed out from the heavy rain last night. The air smells of water, greens and dead worms. The autumn rain is rather nice, it gives a clean, fresh start of a season and ends the summer with a splash. I feel a bit sad for our summer, it never really got to shine, but then again - did we expect it? Nope we didn't.

Autumn might just be my favorite season (do'h). The colors, they warm me up. I love wollen socks and scarfs and boots and long cardigans. Totally prepared for this fall in a new apartment with a new flatmate and a new fireplace.

This ring (bought here) came to me yesterday. :) I almost forgot about it. Anyone know of anything better than receiving packages in the mail? No? Me neither.

It's pretty, isn't it? Yes it is. It suits me, doesn't it? Yes, surely does. :)

Two other good things this morning (besides coffee and waving at my cousin through the car window on my way to work) are these:

Musli Breakfast Bar (yumyumhealthyyum!) and my new orchid yellow crochet cardigan. I do pull off wearing orchid yellow and I love it. :)

How to get to the top?

You walk it, baby!

Almost 5 hour drive on friday night, reaching the lovely cabin at 11pm with freshly made fish soup on the course. Just yummy and perfect for my tummy and then a good nights rest in the bed (I'm so glad we didn't go for the tent-solution ;P). Up with the sheep the very next morning (they seriously almost entered the cabin), ready for the big climb. :) The weird thing though: the worst part was the first 20 minutes! After that it was just easy, peasy. Not really, but once you got the pace it just went on and suddenly 4 hours past and we were climbing to the top. :) Before I walked I thought the picture I posted in the previous post was the whole of Besseggen, but lol - that was just the last part. :)

Oh, and what's more appropriate than a jumping-pic? :)

I gotta say though - I loooove the mountains! Norway, so so beautiful. What next mountain to conquer, girls? :) I'm in.

"Beppeee"

My weekend was spent at Brunstad babysitting this amazing little boy; ny nephew Daniel. 
I love him and guess what, he loooves me back! :) He melts my heart completely when he calls me "Beppeee". And he says it like he reeeeally means it.

Hi there, old friend.

Last year, at this very date, 7 friends and I spent a good 16 days in the states. I can't believe it's been a year already, yet it feels like ages ago. I loved that trip, even if it rained a whole lot. :) It's not about the weather, you know - it's how you take it. Deal with the weather and enjoy the drizzle and drip drop with your friends instead.

After a few days in Connecticut we (or I) drove all the way to Ottawa to visit a few friends there for a couple of days. One morning we ate breakfast at the most charming place, The Marlborough (non-smokers were also welcome). As we sat there enjoying ourself soaked in maple syrup, I looked out the window and this is what I saw. :)

Two old buddies, one quiet morning, a life in the past and good days ahead. 
Made me smile all the way home and finding this in my folder today gave me a new grin.

Giraffe-laffe-affe

Yesterday I was invited over to my friend Susannes place, for a barbeque, licorice ice cream, an insane amount of candy and a few hours with the pencil decorating her upcoming babys room.
What fun we had! :)


She's been (somewhat disturbingly) obsessed with giraffes since I don't know when, and so the baby better like'em too. ;) Cause after a few hours work a big giraffe was eating out of a tree in the room, and another one was peeking into the baby's crib. We also added a fully grown tree, green and fresh and with butterflies flying out of it.

Thanks for asking me to help, Susa! I had major fun and too many mint chocolates. :) Always, always fun catching up with you. :-*

Relax and inhale - the air is fresh!

I had a lovely lovely relaxed and eased weekend at Gol with my two sisters, one brother, one sister in law, one niece and two nephews. :) And even though the weather was grey and cloudy, I truly enjoyed it. The mountains was just what I needed this weekend.
