Every book has a story

During lunch break today we chatted about when we learned how to read and I started to think about myself at kiddo stage. I read a lot. Books gave me soo much joy. I could read for hours straight, days after days - it's a miracle I didn't turn into a geek (oh woops) with glasses (no offence) and zits (uhm), friendless and unfriendly, carrying my books with a tight grip and scowling over the pages for monsters and wizards and evil human beings. I turned out rather great. ;) Phew!

Anyway. I don't read as much anymore, but I love books just the same. And all book lovers know what I talk about. That's why I love this publication of the Jane Austen book from Anthropologie. And my little notebook (unused still) from Metropolitan Museum of Art shop in New York. And my moleskins from Tate Modern in London. I love notebooks. I buy a lot of them, but I don't use them cause I save them for something special. Typical me. What special is going to happen, Mette? Yeah, exactly. Start using them!
And HAPPY WEEKEND everyone! :)
I'll be going to the flee market tomorrow. Books, I'm coming to save you from certain death.

A very special day.

There's something about birthdays. There's 365 days in a year, but this one is MINE. :)
I cant help it - i love my birthday! Thank you, mum and dad. :)

My wish for my day is for everyone else to have an especially happy day!
It's easter, its the end of March, spring is coming, snow is smelting, I'm wearing a dress and life is good. Today is good. :)

All girls are princesses, and here's my proof. It's a real crown and I've got it.

Treasures in My Room #4

Did we reach #4 yet? I think so.

Well, as you can see - I had a blog-over.
What happened was that I went to the "choose new template" section and I saw "save template" and very hasty I clicked it thinking it was saving my template as it was in case I did anything hasty. ... not exactly what it was. I managed to save my blog with a new template, the first and most boring one in line. So - this forced me to spend my lunch break on a template hunt, and I caught this one. I really like it and I thought I was all inventive and finding a completely new template unlike any of my friends blogs, but I was wrong. :P Sorry Julie! I'm trying to customize it though.

Anyway. It's Easter and most people are on holiday. Today I woke up with summer sunshine in my face and I dreaded sitting at the office while the outside was bathed in sun and ice cream offers.
Luckily, that changed rather quickly and now - just as I'm about to end my work day -
I find there is foggy and muddy outside. So much for that lovely easter weather.

I like birds and have liked them since my lovely grandma taught me they are the most appreciative animal there is and that their chirping actually means "thank God, thank God". It is a wonderful childhood memory and every time I see or hear a bird, I am reminded to thank God for my blessed life. So should you. :)

In the name of Easter and in the love of birds: here's a yellow one who sits in my window all day.
The glass jar on the right is something I picked up at a market place, it was free. With a candle in it, it gives the most lovely light play you can imagine! It's like a small church. :) But for now, it's hosting my paint brushes.

Treasures in My Room #3

Click it.

I love this picture. (:
I know ... it's of a couple hugging (and probably kissing too), but it makes me happy. It's full of that jumping joy of reunion. Nothing makes me cry more than seeing people reunited. Honestly.

This photo with frame I found at some flee market and I payed about 10 kr for it (1,5$). Now that's a good price for a treasure that makes me happy, don't you think?. :)

And what in the world is better than a real, real deal real hug? That I-don't-mind-hugging-you-hug, a no-need-to-end-this-hug-right-away-hug. A hug were you let it all go. I really love those hugs. Howcome nobody hugs me like that more often? :P

Yeah yeah, I'll end the hug-talk here. Have a great day, my friends!
I'm going to a work party tonight and I hardly know a better way to spend my evening.
Toodles!

Treasures in My Room #2

My favorite thing in my room hangs in the window. I really like windows - it's one on the first things I notice when I see new houses, both from the inside and the outside. The window brings in the light and the view and gives a soul to the house. I really like deep windows with space for pillows and a butt, a cup of tea and a good book, but who doesn't?
Anyway, as my room is pretty small, most of the outer wall is a window, and I love you for that, Room. My window has light, airy, white curtains, letting all the light it want through.
I hate lit lamps in a room when I want to sleep, but I don't mind natural light at all. I love waking up at 5:30 am in the summer because of the sun beaming in at me. I believe in waking naturally, not sleeping in till noon waking in a black room feeling 30 pounds heavier and not knowing if it's 3 am or midday.

So, what is this thing hanging in my window?
It is this: The Glass Air Balloon.
I walked in at Out of the North at BCC and I fell in love. How pretty can one thing be?
It's only about 15 cm high, and the tiny little casket and strings attached are so cute and fragile. But the best part is the balloon itself; glass and with hand drawn squared lines.
I believe it is the glass shoe of the Air Balloon Ball and that some princess is running around balloon-less.

To bad, sucker princess! The balloon is MINE.

The reason why I love the airballoon I believe has to do with the fact that I really reeeeally really want to travel with one one day, but I'm scared shitless by the thought. :P
So, what to do? Face your fear and die - or long forever and ever...?

And my good friend Lisa is 27 today! :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love you lots and lots.

Treasures in My Room #1

This is not interior advice. Just making that clear. :P

The other day my younger cousin came to visit the Tower (where I live with 4 of my friends), and she uttered: "Mette, can I look at your room pleaseplease?" I replied "Uhm, no it's messy. Why would you wanna look at it?". She then said "I peeked in the other day when I was here and you have sooo many cool things!" Really? You think so? I thought I was the only one liking all my dustcollecting stuff.
Seriously, it's a miracle I don't have astma.

The rumours got out apparantly, cause the next time we had girls over another one said
"I heard about your room, may I see it?".

My first thought of course: "This is blogable".

Let me tell you about My Room.
It's small.

Most of you probably know of my obsession with Muffins (do'h), and M's. M for Muffin, Mette, Marvelous and Mischievous. For Mom and Mom's Mom and Miracles and Mat (food). For "Mmmm, thats good" and all things Nice. Wait, that's and N. Anyway, M's are good for you.

You saw my M from Anthropologie in This Post. It's was a funny thing really, - I found this box with stuff for sale at Anthro in New York, and of course the letter M and the letter L was there. L for the Lovely Linda. The M had the most fantastic pattern in colors I loved and the L was striped and in more moderat colors
- perfect for Linda, perfect for me.

I was going to show you a different treasure in my room today, my most favorite thing, but with all this talk of M's and Anthro I figured I'd start with something in that area. Visiting the Anthro store in Rockefeller NY was quite an experience.
In the things department I found treasures. Especially in the Sales boxes. I just love things on sale that nobody else wants. It's like they're orphan objects and I want to take them home and give them a place to shine.

Like this frame. I really love frames, but this one tops them all. What is there NOT to love about this frame. It makes m
e happy every time I see it, and I see it every day. :) I'm not really a materialist girl, I just really like stuff that makes my soul go "Ah, yes - that's it."

Not only is it round and pretty in every way, it is yellow. :)
The hearts are not from Anthro, they're from another favorite store; Out of the North.
Pretty little hearts, and I really like things that pair up. Things, not people.

Oh and look! An M at the top!
Please don't mention the lovely Spain village wall painting. :P Not my pick.

Did this just become my longest post ever, or what.
