My wonderful weekend!

There's a saying that goes like this: Norwegians are born with skis on their feet. I've always loudly disagreed with this saying, as I've never loved the down hills and never been much of a cross countrier either. Did some in my childhood, but mainly for the hot chocolate and oranges.

This weekend we went on a trip, 101 of us, the youth group in my church, and all saturday was tagged skiing, snowboarding and fun. I meant to cancel my day card, but somehow I didn't. You see, I've tried snowboarding, and I've tried slalom, and every single time I find myself half way down, stuck, lump in throat, tears in eyes, scared as heck, regretting big time my momentary glimpse of courage that made me go on to that elevator in the first place. I remember spending one and a half hour just getting down once. My balance is way off and there's just something wrong every time I fall, cause I can't seem to get up on my own.

This time, my sister convinced me that blades would be the thing.
They are like short slalom skis, and without the staves (poles, sticks?). I would love it, she said. I would manage it, she promised. Well, convinced I was and away we went. And ... to be honest with you ...
my sister was right.  :)
I. Loooved. It.
(you should have seen me go)

... and I LOVE MY CHURCH! And I love Norway, and the mountains and I even love winter.
Takk for den beste, besteste turen!

Spring-a-ding-ding!

I'm honestly not exaggerating when i tell you there's been so much winter this year that i kinda forgot what green looks like. I forgot how it feels to walk on dry, gravely streets, to hear birds shirp "thank God, thank God" (they do say that, my grandma taught me that aaages ago and she speaks birdish). To see people outside, to see them shave off the inch long hair layer they grew during Dark Days. To see us at first hiding from the light. Man, it's so sharp! What is that shining coin in the sky? Ouch! We all put on sunglasses as quickly as we can, and walk around coolish and modernish. Yo.

There's drip drip drip outside the window all they long, and we sit there smiling, watching it, listening to it, hoping it wont stop till its all gone - forgetting that this is actually used in methods of torture in some countries (in one way or another). Oh no, - we love it. We chop the ice in our front yard, attacking it for a quicker meltdown. A few of us even grab for the hair dryer.

I walked home the other day and I couldnt help but smile and smile. It was warm (as in not freezing), there was less snow (it only reached me to the waist), I met people walking their dog (yeah they dont do that during winter), and as I was thinking that this is it, this is spring coming, a car passed me and attached to its rear - was - a boat. Yes, a boat. The watery, summery, speedy thing you put on the sea when there is warmth in air. It was the ultimate spring-a-ding-ding. I almost choked smiling and I double stepped, twirled and lala-ed. It's here and it's not going back. I dont swear, but if i did i'd swear i've never yearned for spring more than i do now.

Spring-a-come-come!

The 16 stages of Ninjaing

The topic at DrawerGeeks today is "Ninja". And then the topic at Illustration Friday is "Legendary" - and Ninjas are! Two smacks in one!

Ninjas are totally the coolest, I'll totally be a ninja some day. Heee-yaah! Slice, slice.

Muffadelic!

Oh maan! :)~
I loved these - way more fun with colored frosting! ;)
My friendling Lin took this photo, and I tweeked it abit in PS afterwards.
There's just something about muffins. It's not that I'm overly fascinated by them in an obscure way, it's just that they are so immensely cute, come in so many different forms and can be made out of basically anything. You can make them crazy sweet, or you can keep them healthy with oatmeal and seeds. And then there's the frosting. Oh how mouthwatering tasty. My dear sister Toon taught me a new one and we're aaaaall loving it. :) I find it quite strange that something tasting sooo good makes you feel terribly sick if you eat more than two of it. :P

Well - there you have muffins. To me they are just the perfect little cake. For any occasion. :)
A Thank-you-Muffin. A Forgive-me-Muffin. An I-luuv-you-Muffin. A just-because-Muffin. A Dance-with-me-Muffin. A Lets-go-see-a-movie-Muffin. An I-forgot-to-pick-up-the-kids-Muffin. A can-you-keep-a-secret-Muffin. An you-are-just-too-good-Muffin.
A muffin-cause-a-muffin-is-a-muffin-Muffin.

Yup - I don't think there's any occasion not covered by a muffin.
