The Elephant Challenge

My fave animal!
Well, from afar that is.

So, the talented students Cole, Josh, and Jimi, with their inspiring professor Bryan, have all been throwing elephants at each other, and I decided to join the good company.
First off. THE MASK. What better dressup than to be an elephant? And I really want those boots.

This also gives me a good chance to recommend one of my all time favorite artist:

Did you ever see a more talented guy? No you didn't! Well, maybe you did. But then you didn't!

Bicycling business and a badger bully

As I've been riding my biiiiicycle lately I've noticed one thing about myself and one thing about other cyclists.

First myself: I. Don't. Mind. Being. Outdoor. In. A. Tricot. Like, I'm actually confident and feel like I'm part of the work-out-world and it's more ok to look slightly off (moderate speaking) in tricot, than being lazy in comfy pants and hoodies. Us work-out-folks are the ones laughing at YOU.

Keep in mind I've been eagerly working out (every other week) the past 2-3 months. I'm a pro.

Other cyclists: They treat me like I'm a part of their group. Every cyclists I meet, even the old lady with her basket and carrots gives me a wink with the eye and and a flick of the bell. They cheer me on and smack my back and I swear (not really) they can tell I'm a freshman at this. They are big hearted people, it's nice to be part of the bicycle family. (:

The Badger Bully: I was driving back home last night and as I cornered a corner I saw an animal twitching and shaking on the ground in front of a still standing car facing me. I slowed down, thinking "oh noes, he hit a fox and now he (the fox) is dying! I don't wanna have to participate in finishing him off, let me pass!"
And then I came closer and I saw my first badger in full light (I've seen shadows of them, scariest thing there is. Did you know they bite you until the bone's crushed?). But what seemed like a hurt and twitching badger turned out to be two bully badgers, stuck to each other in a fierce bite, fighting like crazy, slamming the other on the ground in turns. Eeeww, I hate badgers. I hate the badger song. I hate that story about the frog and the badger and the mole living in the sump. My worst childhood memory.

Well, short story even shorter: They fell off the side of the road after a minute or so, and us jaw dropped chauffeurs could continue our drive. It was amazing and truly a story to tell.

So job fruit deliverers: Quit putting dried banana in my nut mix. Thanks.

M is for ...

... mmmmitsubishi! That's my car! Say it!

Does anyone remember this? My very first car! How I loved it, the little Micra.
This was, by the way, the second Muffin-drawing ever and I had to use the first head and just change the body. I also took a picture of the car and I traced it for the lines. Yup, back in good ol' 2006. Things have changed and I've become a bit more confident with my lines at least.

And finally - FINALLY - I've bought a new car. The Micra died at the end of 2008, and so the train and my cousins good will and car got me to work for a year. The nicest cousin ever. :)

I was -this- close to buying my second car last week. A Toyota Carina 1995, kinda shabby and in the lovely shade of crimson. Bluah. Isn't that the grosest car color ever? Why can't they make cars in more happy colors? Like Mustard. :) Anyway - another car was presented to me. Mitsubishi. M. Need I say more? I never even considered a Mitsubishi. I can't even pronounce it correctly and I can't promise the spelling is right. :P But this car - oh my. I was in love with the first step on the pedal. The ignition was there (ha ha). And now it's mine and it's so so so perfect. :) Silvergray (could've been yellow, would've been cool, but hey ..) and I can't help it, - but it looks like a panda! Can you see it? It's my DJ (licenseplate) Panda (and did you ever see a nicer looking behind on a car?).

I knew I needed another car starting with an M. (:

Btw. See what I mean? It's a pandacar! Although mine has silver ears.

A very special day.

There's something about birthdays. There's 365 days in a year, but this one is MINE. :)
I cant help it - i love my birthday! Thank you, mum and dad. :)

My wish for my day is for everyone else to have an especially happy day!
It's easter, its the end of March, spring is coming, snow is smelting, I'm wearing a dress and life is good. Today is good. :)

All girls are princesses, and here's my proof. It's a real crown and I've got it.

Workin' on it

Lol, crap. :P I messed up the blog as you can see.
Did a hasty thing and ended up with this and an itch in the back of my head.

Well. I was in the process of renewing my blog, so I guess this just gave me that push.

I, the Business Woman

I really like being at seminars.
I'm in my fourth week in the new job and the second and third monday I went to Oslo on seminars. To learn stuff. :) I love refilling my knowlegde of stuff. Stuff may come in handy, so I like knowing it when that happens. Why everyone hates school I don't understand, cause I honestly loved it. My suggestion to you school-haters out there is to try and picture yourself a few years into the future.
Picture yourself standing amongst grown ups and you are in a conversation about the important things in this world, you have two options:

1.
you can stand there like a moron and nod your head at every wrong moment, not being able to reply to questions, and certainly not be able to ask them yourself.
You don't make a fool of yourself, cause you ARE a fool.

2.
you can know what you are talking about (not a garnatuee of course), and you can add your thoughts on the subject and go far back in your brain and pick up those things you learned in school or in other social events.

Yes, school isn't the only place you learn stuff, but it should be one of them. If you get a good going in school, it'll be a lot easier for you to develop the pick-up-skill. And I don't mean that in a boyfriend (or girlfriend) way. I mean to pick up information that you may or may not need in the future. People around you know stuff, so use them for it. :)

.. or just google it, of course. I use a mix.

Btw. I made a fool of myself at the last seminar. :P

Story goes:
We were in the middle of a boring sequence and I started exploring my iphone. I had a few new apps and so I clicked around. The iphone has a Nike+ipod app pre installed and so I clicked it and a button said "sensor" ... so I clicked it.
If you have an iphone you may try that now.

...
yup. "WALK AROUND TO ACTIVATE YOUR SENSOR" boomed out into the room.
They all laughed and I turned tomato.

A Man

There's a man that fascinates me, and that man is Paul.
He walked this earth many many years ago, and he changed his own life and the life of thousands of others by what the way he lived and the letters he wrote.
I told you some weeks ago about me illustrating a folder for the musical (for children) about Paul of Tarsus, and I finished (I think :P) yesterday.
This is gonna be the last page. Paul on one of his many wanderings.
I look forward to see it all printed up. :)

Flip side when you hear a tingle!

My sister got me a job doing illustrations for a childrens book about Paul of Tarsus. Yes, from the Bible. It is such a great story and this is meant for the children and so therefor I was asked to do the illustrations for the folder that will be handed out to the children before the musical.

I love love love doing childrens illustrations! I'm very childish on the inside, no doubt.
26 years old you say? Get a grip? Not on my schedule today, sir!

So, here's a sneak peak. Can't show it all just yet. :)
As you can see, it's pretty much standard muffin style. That's the way I do what I do.

Also - I finished up the wall painting at my cousins house last night. I started it before Christmas and now I finally finished. :P Believe me, it's not that I'm a very slow worker, I just tend to accept too many projects at the same time, which leaves everyone suffering. Sucks for me AND for them, so a change is in order.
I'm trying to get more organized. :)

Ok, picture of the wall later.

Have a great day everyone!
And if you get bored, just play Ticket to Ride.

Cravings & Ramblings

I know I've rambled about Mondays before.
How chocolate should be bigger, hugs softer,
nights longer and rooms automatically cleaned (that would be nice).
But honestly, I never really felt Mondays any different from other days.
Actually, I've kinda preferred Mondays to Tuesdays.
Monday allowed an easy and soft start to the week.
Not much happening. Fresh coffee in the pots, what more to ask for.

But today is really that Monday I felt coming all these years.
It's not a bad day in any particular way. It's not been unlucky or mean to me.
I didn't have a lot to do or a stressful time.
I don't have any big plans later hanging over my shoulders,
- really - it's been nothing but nice to me.
Today's Monday would fall into my nice-monday-category if I were to rate the day just from being a day.

But ... for no reason at all, I just feel sad today.

Well. A friend suggested I needed some chocolate.
Aaand ... that was 6 minutes after I unconsciously drew this on my post-it block.

I'm just saying!

Post-it Daily 22nd

Today is 22nd and also the last day at work before a good, long holiday.

I wont be back at work until the 4th of January 2010. Aah, sweet. :)

Well - about today.
I was driving my last day to work. I was a tad late as I managed to leave my wallet behind at my parents house last night, so I had to go get it this morning. The car was fine, a little out of gas maybe, just baaarely touching the red, but it was fine. My conclusion was that it would do fine the 50 minutes it takes to drive to the office, and I could fill gas on my way home instead. As I drove on the long, lifeless and dark roads the car suddenly started coughing. Coughing like a dog. I prayed out loud, - just please make it to the office, but no mercy. :/ I did have some luck though, (I always have (someone up there is looking after me)), cause the insidence took place just by a merging road, and I had some space to let my car slide into, just outside the road, but not in the gutter. The car stopped and refused to start again. The airblower, who'd just minutes before made it to warm air started blowing cold air in my face instantly.
Lovely
, I thought.

I called, of course, my sweet coworker Linda and she came to my rescue.
But let me tell you, that car got cold within seconds and I'm sure Linda found me blue lipped and talking in riddles. I don't remember, - my brain was frozen.
I never want to freeze to death!

So. The car was left behind and I was snuggling inside Lindas warm car.

Now I gotta figure out how to get home, how to get the car and what was actually wrong with the stupid thing in the first place. I mean - it had enough gas, ok?!

I'm ending this story with a good thing (we all need some of that):
Holiday - I'm on my way. :)

Post-it Daily 21st

Yesterday was 21st and my second oldest sister turned a year older.
I remember how she hated her birth date - so close to christmas, what was mum and dad thinking??
Come on!

And then she got her second child on Christmas Eve itself. ;)
(You gotta admit it's a little bit funny, Hege.)

She's so talented and creative, I used to love watching her draw and I wanted be be just as good as her. She was the first one in the family to go the creative way with school, and I just knew that that was my path aswell. Thanks, Hege. :)

Now she has the most adorable three little girls, she does decoration and house styling, interiour stuff and she paints. I hope your future is full of creative business, Heitch. :)

And I love the new house!

See her interior blog.

Post-it Daily 20th

Sundays in Norway are considered Holy Days, therefor every store is closed.
If you need something - get it Saturday.

I do occationally find myself a bit annoyed by this, but very seldom. Mostly I really like Sundays the way they are. You can't buy grocery, you can't shop, you can't go to town. You just have to relax, take it easy, do you thang, take a walk, sit inside, make hot chocolate, never get really dressed unless for church etc etc.
I love those Sundays, only drawback is the ever closer Monday.

Before Christmas the Sundays are open from 2 to 7 PM.
Shop shop! And people do like they never did Sunday Shopping before. Pre Christmas Sundays are crazy. Why do I always end up at the mall in line with the rest? Beats me.

Well, this was my sunday.
Hope yours was good too. :)

And yes, I rushed three post its in one day. Hence the reduced quality.

Post-it Daily 19th

Yes, it was 19th two days ago, I know.

But don't you worry. I've got a story for you:
It was a busy weekend. From one end to the other.

And now I have some thoughts about smoking.

Smoking is disgusting.
Quit smoking before smoking quits you.

I am so so very thankful that I'm not exposed to smoking in my daily life. No one in my family smokes. None of my friends smoke. Not one at work inhales a thing and I never attend parties where there are smokers. Not in a "I'm not coming if a smoker comes" way, just that I dont mingle with that kindle. I don't hang with that gang.

As we cleaned out the appartment from the old couple who were moved to a home for old people, I realized how thankful I am that I don't have to deal with smokers.

The place was yellow.
And I dont mean painted.
When we picked pictures down from the wall, we discovered what pattern the wall paper had. Glass inside cuppoards had a sticky, gluey gooey yellow surface. Just about everything in the appartment was ruined by the smoke.
I smelled of smoke when I came home.

I love you, Hot Water & Soap.

Post-it Daily 18th

Nothing to write home about today.
I'm going to paint a wall tonight.

I might listen to Pink Floyd while doing it.

:)
Happy friday.

PS.
The song yesterday was sort of a joke. :P
No need to give me serious feedback!
DS.

Post-it Daily 17th

My good friend Jackie commented on this post, challenging me to make a Christmas Song. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm always up for a good challenge, as long as I know I'll rock it, pop it, polkadot it.

When it comes to making silly rhymes and birthday poems, I know I can bring out a few smiles. But when it comes to making songs, articulated verses, poems that pumps your pretty little head for days after, songs stuck in your braincellah - well, then I have to hand it over to my sister. Or my dad.

So - in normal circumstances, I would say "hepp hepp, I'd do it if I could, but I can't".
But we all know December is nothing but normal and I'm all about doing good things this month.

Therefor - Ladies and Gentlemen.
I put on my finest tuned voice and give you my
Christmas Ding a Ding Song.

Ring a Ding Ding
A Christmas Song I sing

A tribute to the best time of year
When we send our love to those we have dear
And give our thanks to the Lord and His Son
Who gave us Christmas so we could have fun
Who gave us the earth, life and real love
Who meant for us all to be happy - I know

..
Continiuing below.
Aaaand I just realized how very similar this drawing is to the previous one.
Oh well.

And those are rabbits covering their ears. Not mishaped snowballs.

Post-it Daily 16th

Every time I find myself in front of an empty blog post wondering what to write I end up with just svada and yatta yatta. Where are all my strong opinions?
Where are all the funny and weird things that happens in my life?
They all vanish the instant I am confronted with writing it down.

Hm hm. Anything today? Nah, dont think so.

Oh, but yesterday something happened that impressed me.
I wanted to draw it in todays post it, but I found it kinda hard to draw Linda with her head down in the big pot they cooked porriged in.
Cause she scrubbed it.
Do you know what burned milk looks like?
Feels like between your fingers and the scrub?
Smells like?
Linda does, just ask her.
She scrubbed the thing butt clean. Like a baby. I was so proud of her. :)
All I did was wash the thing in soap after. Easy peasy pot'n cheesy.

Who needs to be a full time mom or housewife to brag about cleaning the big pots?
Not us! We've got Activity Club cleanup!

Exam Stressam.

I live in a flat with 4 girls. Studying girls.
December in my world means lazy days at work (kindof),
long lunches, holiday near by ... you know.

December in their world means exam, exam, exam.
Paper everywhere, opened books with tags and marked sections.
Innumerable coffee cups with cold and clogged coffee.
Earplugs and music on repeat.
Pizza boxes filling our paper garbage. Coke and Pepsi Max in the fridge.

I'm looking forward to you all being done with them exams, girls. :)
and I know you'll all do great!

I'm proud of you and love you. :)

This is Ida, in frustration.
I think I'm gonna go make her some coffee.

Post-it Daily 14th

Ten days to Christmas!

Today is Monday.
Last monday I said no days in December feels like Monday
cause all days this month are good days.

Today felt like Monday. Like really Mon - day.

I brought Work-Linda into todays post it. She asked for it.
Linda is the nices girl to share an office with. :)
She brings me coffee. But she's slacking on the chocolate.

I'm kinda sore after shoppingmarathon on Saturday.
I'm kinda tired after a weekend full of good things. :)
Thats the good part.
It was the good things that made me tired, and so it is worth it.

Still. Kinda feels lika Monday today.

AND I forgot my calendar chocolate this morning.
Which was sad this morning in the car,
but good now as I have something to look forward to when I get home. ;)

Ten days, ya'll!

Post-it Daily 13th

So it happened. I missed a day.
Not that I didnt think about it or wanted to make a postit for the 13th,
I just wanted to or needed to do other things more.

Yesterday was a fine day.
It was The Saint Lucia Day, which I completely forgot about until my flatmate mentioned it about ten thirty PM.
Oh well, it was only fun when we were kids and it wasnt even fun then.

But we had Christmas Market with the church. :)
THAT was fun.

Ps. If you have trouble reading the tiny writings, just click and see it a bit bigger.
